I am delighted to share with you some wonderful news. Over the past few months, so many of you have viewed the short animated film "Kakenya" produced by Vital Voices Global Partnership about my life and my dream of building a girls' school in my community in Kenya. This week the film won the Grand Prize in the ViewChange Online Film Contest. The Prize comes with $25,000, which Vital Voices and Aaron Kisner, the filmmaker, are donating to our organization. We are so thankful for this recognition and gift. The funds will go toward the current construction of our dormitory that we hope to complete by the time school reopens in January.
Thank you to ViewChange.org for creating this global venue for sharing our vital stories and congratulations to all the other organizations that have also shared their stories through film. Thank you so much, Aaron and Vital Voices, for your generosity. Our goal is for our girls to learn, play and dream just like any other happy, healthy young girls elsewhere in the world. Because of this award we will be able to extend our reach to include more girls in this dream from surrounding villages. Thank you for giving hope to the young girls in my homeland.
Thank you,
Kakenya Ntaiya
P.S. We would like you to help us finish the dormitory - we are only $15,000 away - please
