Anisa S. Tootla is a non-profit executive with extensive experience in organizational growth, change, and building strong teams for success.
Anisa is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the League of Women Voters, a political non-partisan organization committed to the informed and active participation of individuals in government, increasing the understanding of major public policy issues, and influencing public policy through education and advocacy. Believing in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy, the League envisions a democracy where every person has the right, the knowledge, and the confidence to participate. In her role as COO, Anisa is responsible for strategic planning, finance, human resources, legal compliance and risk management, information technology, member services, and administrative operations.
Prior to joining the League in 2014, Anisa spent nearly twelve years at AARP Foundation in a variety of roles. As vice president of programs, she led the creation and development of AARP and AARP Foundation’s work on hunger and its signature ‘Drive to End Hunger’ campaign, aimed at solving the issue of senior hunger in America. Prior to her VP role, Anisa served as senior director of strategy and operations, where she worked hand in hand with the President of AARP Foundation in the strategic repositioning of the organization, including identification and development of the organization’s new vision, mission, and impact areas.
Anisa is a graduate of DePaul and Johns Hopkins Universities and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Masters in Business Administration. She has served on the board of Kakenya’s Dream since 2016 and currently chairs the finance committee.
