Age 11, Grade 5 (2019)
Esther is a determined and passionate young girl at KCE. She comes from a single parent home. Her father left when she was a baby, and her mother works very hard selling groceries to make ends meet, but money is extremely tight. Before she came to KCE, Esther attended a day school in the area. After paying the required school fees, her mother could not afford the school uniform or a backpack, so Esther went to school without a uniform and carried her books and school supplies in a plastic bag. For this, she was bullied often by her former classmates, and she began to believe that her future was hopeless.
When Esther heard about KCE and our ability to support families with limited financial means, she asked to come for enrollment in December of 2017. She is now in the 4th grade at KCE, and for the first time, she has a uniform, a backpack of her very own, and everything else she needs to thrive at school. Esther loves science and mathematics and aspires to be a nurse one day so that she can be a good role model for her younger siblings, and dedicate her life to helping those in need.
